Admissions policy

Please find below details of our admissions procedures. If unsure in any way about how to go about applying for a place at Ark Brunel, please contact us at school. We will be happy to explain in further detail how to apply.

 

Nursery admissions are dealt with by the school.  Enrolment forms can be obtained from the school office.

Applications for Reception are dealt with by the family’s local authority.  Online application is encouraged, though paper forms can be obtained from the School Admissions Team at the LA.

Applications for places in Y1-Y6 are classed as ‘In Year Transfers’.  These are dealt with by the RBKC School Admissions Team.  In Year Transfer application forms can be downloaded/printed off the LA website, or posted upon request to the School Admissions Team.  These forms cannot be completed online.

Once an offer has been made by the LA, we will then send Ark Brunel application forms to the parents for completion.  Waiting lists are maintained by the LA and parents should contact the School Admissions Team for information regarding their child's place on the list.

Admissions appeals

Ark Network Appeals Timetable

September 2017 entry

Appeals for children refused a place at a preferred school for admission to Reception class in September will be heard in line with the School Admissions Appeals Code (2012).  

  Offer date Deadline for lodging an appeal
Primary 18 April 2017 20 May 2017
    after 20 May 2017 (late appeals)

 

‘On-time’ appeals will be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals. Appeals lodged after these dates will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, whichever is the later date.

Mid-year appeals must be heard within 30 days of receipt of the appeal.

Parents/carers will be notified of their appeal date by an external agency engaged by the Ark network.

Any additional evidence parents/carers wish to submit in support of their appeal must be sent to the external agency at least 5 working days before the hearing. Any evidence not submitted by this deadline may not be considered by the independent appeal panel.
