Strong results at ARK Brunel
ARK Brunel Primary Academy in Middle Row has shown improvements in results for Key Stage 1 students and continued strong results from Key Stage 2 exams.
Students saw their Year 1 phonics screening scores improve to 90% in 2014, up from 80% in 2013. Combined SAT results also showed improvement, rising to 83% from 79% in 2013.
Dominic Smith, the Headteacher of ARK Brunel Primary Academy, said: “We are already at or better than the national average in all areas, and we are working to continue to improve. We’ve moved into our new, modern building and we’re very optimistic about next year and beyond.”
Stacey Rustemi is a Year 6 pupil from ARK Brunel Primary Academy. She achieved level 5 in Reading and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar and Level 4 in Writing and Maths on her SATs. Stacey says: “This was a very important test. The teachers pushed us a lot to do our best. We had a ‘booster club’ where twice a week we could go and they would help us in our English and maths. It made studying easier. Our grades are important if you want to get into a good sixth form and go on to university, you need good results. When I grow up I want to be an undercover police officer.”
