The Speech and Language Department at Brunel is a specialist resource base, that provides support and intervention programmes for up to sixteen children identified as having a speech, language and communication need. The aim of the resource base is to meet those needs, so that children can access the mainstream curriculum and the social opportunities offered within the wider school, whilst developing their independence.

Managed by two specialist teachers, two teaching assistants and a speech and language therapist, the resource base provides an environment which enables small group learning and direct intervention alongside and/or in addition to regular classroom learning. Collaboration between class teacher, specialist teacher and therapist, ensures that appropriate speech, language, communication and learning goals and opportunities are identified for each individual child.

Whilst we welcome visits to the Speech and Language Department at Ark Brunel Primary Academy, please be aware that we are only able to offer places to children who have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) that identifies speech, language and communication as a primary need.
